Our programs

At Dream International, we don’t just talk about change — we grow it.
Our programs are rooted in the belief that people and the planet thrive together. From planting trees to empowering farmers, we are transforming lives through nature-based solutions.

01Environmental conservation

Biodiversity loss, through land degradation and drought, is a serious threat to the sustainable development activities across the continent of Africa. This is often exacerbated by the lack of knowledge and skills on sustainable land management practices and forest biodiversity conservation. Low levels of awareness and sensitization of the advantages of land restoration among some, combined with poor regulation of resources, and lack of consideration for the interests of local communities, often leads to poor public support and participation towards conservation of natural resources.

02Agriculture and Climate change

planting basins, green manuring, conservation agriculture (rotations, intercropping, mulching and reduced tillage) and agroforestry are among the most common climate- smart practices being promoted in Bunyangabu district to improve productivity, food availability and resilience to climate hazards.

03Gender and climate change

Men and women in farm households experience climate change differently due to unequal roles and resources. Women, often poorer and more reliant on natural resources, are especially vulnerable. Despite facing the brunt of climate impacts, they are frequently excluded from decision-making and solution-building. Reports from CARE and the World Bank highlight that women's economic empowerment must be central to climate policies. The UN’s Gender Action Plan emphasizes that sustainable development is only possible when women are actively involved in climate action

Sustainable agriculture and agroforestry
Smallholder farmers in Uganda are hit hardest by the effects of climate change. One of Dream International Agroforestry most important tasks is to provide trainings and advice on how smallholder farmers can adapt to climate change. By employing Sustainable Agriculture and Land Management methods, the farmers can continue to develop their farming methods, despite drought and flooding, and ensure the families access to food. Sustainable agriculture based on agroforestry, growing trees among crops, is multi-functional and diversified and based on agroecological methods adapted to the specific ecosystem.
